The Glenwood Pysher Tragedy

On August 23, 2026, Glenwwod Pysher, a 22-year-old college student and baseball player, was fatally shot by Police Corporal Sean Farrell in Upper Pottsgrove Township, Pennsylvania. Pysher had been celebrating a friend's 21st birthday party when he mistakenly then walked about a half mile and went to the wrong house. After the homeowner called 911, Officer Farrell arrived at the scene. The body cam shows Farrell walking down the driveway with his service weapon drawn, taking cover behind a car, and ordering Pysher - unarmed with his hands raised - to "drop to the ground." Farrell fired two shots killing Pysher. On September 1, 2026, Farrell was charged with voluntary manslaughter for the shooting. Prosecutors said the use of deadly force was not justified under Pennsylvania law. The DA's office stated Farrell had less-than-lethal options, such as a taser, that he did not use. This is yet another situation where MAPb and DAPb are certain appropriate training could have avoided.
